JMU Homecoming 2007 no CGB!?!

JMU Homecoming 2007 no CGB!?!

Homecoming is a very special event for those who attended JMU. Not only because it’s a blast, you get to reconnect with and network with alumni who shared the common bond of the same JMU experience.

While looking for a graphic that would sum up the JMU experience, I was unable to find a Copperplate Gothic Bold sighting for a JMU site. This brought me much dismay and sadness. Rather than let it get to me that CGB isn’t in the branding kit, I decided to create my own piece of CGB history, the official Copperplate Gothic Bold JMU Homecoming 2007 Badge.

This graphic will not only bring the football team good luck but it will also bless my 12×12 tent, beer-pong size replica football table, 2 captains chairs, lil’ Weber Grille and all those who partake in the wonder of our tailgate. I can only hope that this will inspire the school to rethink their position on Copperplate Gothic Bold, not only because CGB offers the feel of a sans-serif with the believability of a serifed but because it is awesome. Go Dukes and Go Bold!

The Only Deadly Sin Involves Avoiding CGB!!!

The only deadly sin is to not include Copperplate Gothic Bold in your design, in this case they are safe.

The only deadly sin is to not include Copperplate Gothic Bold in your design, in this case they are safe.

The only sin that these folks in JMU’s HTM 471 class committed was not using more Copperplate Gothic. Now you’ll note the difference, bold was not included in the description of the font.

This particular instance was discovered by Daniel Dunlap, former roommate of mine in college and all around good guy. He found this particular instance of Copperplate Gothic (sans-the-bold) used in this menu. You’ll notice that while similar it lacks some of the heftiness that a bold possesses. Good catch Mr. Dunlap, good catch. It’s people like Daniel, true blooded American’s who eat steak and mash potato’s for every meal of the day that keep this country ticking. And it’s design like this that keeps us wanting more of this beautiful font.

The Boulevard Wood Grill, Arlington Virginia featuring the best font in the world...Copperplate Gothic Bold

The Boulevard Wood Grill, Arlington Virginia featuring the best font in the world...Copperplate Gothic Bold

3 months is way too long since an update. There are many reasons for not updating but none can explain the pain of holding back so many CGB sightings from the Internets.

New updates will soon follow, more new sightings, and of course advancing the greatness of the best font in all of the world.

Arlington Virginia, JMU’s older second campus, the playground of the rich and famous, home of the Boulevard Wood Grill. This establishment could not exemplify Copperplate Gothic Bold any harder if it tried. They have half price bottles of wine during the week and the food is pretty good. You can sit outside and it’s almost like being in Southbeach in Miami minus the beach, pimped out cars, and Mango’s.

So keep rocking hard Boulevard Wood Grill of Arlington or Clarendon to be exact. You shine your lights much like the bright lights of Madison and keep the burning candle of Copperplate Gothic Bold alive. You are an inspiration to all restaurants. You should get together with Rhodeside Grille and have a Copperplate March to the steps of the Capitol to petition the goverment for Copperplate Gothic Bold as the national font of America.
