Copperplate in Scottland!!!

Sunday, January 22nd, 2012 | Alcohol, Travel | No Comments

We recently toured the great country of Scotland and was pleasantly surprised at the ubiquitous use of Copperplate! The majority of our time was in Edinburgh (lovely city as they say) and we seemed to be delighted at every turn with the unmistakeable and strikingly handsome Copperplate Gothic Bold.

In this particular sighting we found CGB at the “Scotch Whiskey Tasting Experience” hiding in the downstairs bar area depicting the harvesting of the barley. In this particular sighting we can see how the Scott’s use CGB slightly differently than we do here in the states.

In this case A smaller font size can be used to illustrate this very important part of the whiskey making process because the font itself is so strong and so clear. It was also apparent as the evening progressed the symbiotic relationship between scotch and Copperplate, the more Scotch we drank, the more CGB we were able to see.

So thank you Scotland for your thistles, kilts and use of CGB. As William Wallace a famous Scotsman once said in the movie Braveheart, “Tell them…that Copperplate…is the only font… for MEEEE!”

New Orleans Crawfish and Copperplate!!!

Monday, July 11th, 2011 | Education, Food | No Comments

crawfishworld.com

7 out of 6 Crawfish naturally prefer Copperplate Gothic Bold.

We love crawfish and we love New Orleans. We also love when we see an excellent display of a website using the combination together!

In this particular instance the website crayfishworld (most likely a northerner from their use of “crayfish” instead of the southern preferred “crawfish”) has created a haven for mud-bug afficianados to share their experience and love for the most tasty of the crustacean world.

These creatures come in a variety of colors in addition to their natural brown and red markings including blue, white, and red. It’s pretty amazing the passion that these mud-bug afficianados show for these fascinating creatures. The most interesting thing that we found was that the author of the site used Copperplate Gothic Bold for their logo.

This is a natural choice because despite the crawfishes diminutive size, it is quite fierce and definitely American. These factors are both important for the use of Copperplate Gothic Bold.

In a recent publishing of a scientific journal they did a test of mud-bugs and which font that they preferred after being blindfolded and shown two fonts. The two fonts shown were comic sans, and Copperplate Gothic Bold. In every instance the mud-bugs would go over to the Copperplate side, high five the graphic, then go over to the comic sans side and would use all their might to destroy the example. Pretty incredible that these creatures are wise enough to know that Copperplate Gothic Bold is the ultimate font.

So thank you crawfish world, keep up the good work, and may your mud-bugs, crawfish, crayfish or whatever you may call them live a long and crustaceous life!!!

New Hampshire Is Part of America!!!

Saturday, June 25th, 2011 | Seasonal, Travel | No Comments

It’s been many years since our last visit to New Hampshire. Last time we were almost run off Mount Washington in the 80′s by a driver who had comic sans bumper stickers plastered to their car.

Lucky for us we made itto the top in our Dodge full sized van, they were not so lucky and perished in a fiery autocrash that consumed the dodge caravan they were driving and every last bit of their comic sans bumper stickers adhered to the fake plastic wood paneling on the vehicle. In fact, police stated they might have lived if not for the flammable comic sans stickers.

We are happy to report that the fine residents of New Hampshire in Manchester are alive and well and in much better shape than the last time we visited. It’s appropriate we found this sighting at the Lands End store in Manchester. You’ll notice that Outlet is prominently featured in the strongest font ever made, Copperplate Gothic Bold.

We hope the fine folks at Lands End realize that the phenomenal sales they are receiving at this store are tied to their use of Copperplate Gothic Bold on their store signage. We believe this will lead to the branding for Lands End being converted to CGB. It fits the brand: strength, America, and nature all nuanced in a font. It’s also fitting because the upper part of New Hampshire just drops off into nothing, truly the lands end. Past the upper part of New Hampshire is a desolate place jealous and fearful and what CGB represents.

Driving we noticed these stores had no business or cars out front:

Pet Smart? No CGB!!!
Best Buy? No CGB!!!
Best Western? No CGB!!!
Forever 21? No CGB!!!

Thank you New Hampshire for your embracing of CGB. Even though you are north, Live Free or Die is alive through the use of CGB. Don’t die, live free, CGB!!!

America’s Official Font: Copperplate Gothic Bold

Leading the Charge to Name Copperplate Gothic Bold: "The Official Font of the United States of America"

That would be an amazing news headline: “America’s Official Font Named by Congress to forever be Copperplate Gothic Bold!”

We are more than happy to lead the charge to lobby this most pressing issue with congress, and quite frankly it’s about time. There is nothing more American than Copperplate Gothic Bold…nothing.

3 reasons why Copperplate Gothic Bold is unofficially America’s Official Font:

1. It looks amazing with the American Flag
2. 11 out of 10 Bald Eagles prefer Copperplate Gothic Bold
3. The synonym for Freedom is Copperplate Gothic Bold

Compelling facts for a compelling cause.

Congress needs to stop the bipartisan bickering, sit down, and agree to something that we can all believe in: America’s Official Font should be Copperplate Gothic Bold. The original creator of The Font was Frederic W. Goudy, a true blooded American born in Bloomington, Indiana, 1865. Fred Dubs (affectionately called by his close friends) was rumored to keep a pack of wild bald eagles in his backyard as pets and used to hand feed them with a homemade elixir of bourbon and moonshine that he distilled in his basement. The birds were completely docile until shown the font comic sans at which point they would go into a complete state of rage and destroy every instance of the offending font. He was also rumored to have one of the largest American flag collections outside of Betsy Ross and the heirs to her estate.

America was founded on diversity and freedom. What is more diverse and free than having America’s Official Font being named Copperplate Gothic Bold?

So please, do your part. Contact your local congress person and let them know that you demand that Copperplate Gothic Bold be named America’s Official Font.

“One small kern for man, one giant leap for American kind.”

Majestic Building, Majestic Sign

What a majestic building sighted by our new friend @semanticwill

This building stands tall in the great city of New York apparently watching over central park. Such a great view probably commands a premium price in large part to the signage they have used to signify how great of a place it is to live.

Crying Hokie Bird of Virginia Tech!!!

James Madison University smited Virginia Tech in Football. Now all the Hokie bird can do is cry.

James Madison University smited Virginia Tech in Football. Now all the Hokie bird can do is cry.

Virginia Tech was smited recently by James Madison University in football. So much so that grown men and women cried and pounded the earth wondering if life would ever get better? The answer unfortunately is no, life will not get better for you or your team. This is a life lesson called: “don’t put all your eggs in one basket.”

This was quite the blow to Virginia Tech whose students have nothing more going for them than football and cow pastures. After realizing that their football team, rituals, and stadium was just a big great lie, they cried and wept for hours. Here is a great photo capturing their mascot a “Hokie Bird” (a castrated turkey) crying after the loss to James Madison University.

Copperplate Gothic Bold is the perfect font to accompany such a momentous event. James Madison University rose up and showed that they have a history of winning, of being National Champions, and that no amount of noise, glitter, or tom foolery can change that. So Hokie bird, it’s going to be a rough season, there will be many more tears and upsets. It’s not a horrible thing to get used to though, you’ll see, there are other things than football. At least the grass on the field will stay a bright green from all the tears you will be crying.

Thanks to this site for the original photo.

Plasma and Copperplate Were Made for Eachother

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010 | Products | No Comments

Copperplate is a 9in "Steel"

Copperplate is a 9in "Steel"

When we think of Copperplate we often think about plasma cutters, steel fabrication, and massively heavy implementations of Copperplate Gothic Bold!

We found this young man out in California who uses a plasma cutter to create cut outs of shapes in 14 gauge steel in a true assortment of products. In this case a totally awesome cut out of E in Copperplate Gothic Bold. So for the ultimate product in the ultimate font we want to thank Fred Nelson for creating this and posting his work online for all to see.

It would be great if Fred made a cut out of “Copperplate Gothic Bold is The Best Font Ever” and then sent one to us, that would be awesome.
