Plasma and Copperplate Were Made for Eachother
Wednesday, April 21st, 2010 | Products | No Comments
When we think of Copperplate we often think about plasma cutters, steel fabrication, and massively heavy implementations of Copperplate Gothic Bold!
We found this young man out in California who uses a plasma cutter to create cut outs of shapes in 14 gauge steel in a true assortment of products. In this case a totally awesome cut out of E in Copperplate Gothic Bold. So for the ultimate product in the ultimate font we want to thank Fred Nelson for creating this and posting his work online for all to see.
It would be great if Fred made a cut out of “Copperplate Gothic Bold is The Best Font Ever” and then sent one to us, that would be awesome.
Steven Singer Jeweler’s - Shiny Copperplate Bling!

Here a fantastic specimen of Copperplate Gothic Bold caught in the wild!
Steven Singer (I’m guessing from the photo) must be the buzz of the spring bee hive with his store emblazoned with his tagline so seductively inscribed on the door in Copperplate Gothic Bold. I’ll tell you what Steven, we’ll pass you the can of absolute whoop-ass that you can “Go On … Open It Up” and lay it on down showing all the other fonts of the world how it’s done!
It’s great seeing a jeweler using Copperplate in their design, they appreciate beauty and things that shine and by using Copperplate they know that their store and business will shine and sparkle just like the expensive rocks and metals they sell.
So give it up for Steven Singer for whistlin’ Dixie and dropping a Copperplate Gothic Bold tune our way by showing he’s got what it takes to be great. To our new friend Edwin Watkey, thanks for sharing this beautiful picture and teaching the world that Copperplate is the greatest font of all time.
Edwin Watkey is a young man who has a blog and in this blog he offers pictures from his everyday life. One of these pictures is included right here, a fantastic specimen of Copperplate Gothic Bold!
Jodie Foster & The Movie Panic Room Love Copperplate Gothic Bold!
Monday, April 12th, 2010 | Movies | No Comments
Look at this the Panic Room and the wonderful actress Jodie Foster are using Copperplate Gothic Bold to open their movie. I don’t know if there is any stronger entrance that could possibly be used, big buildings and a super sized spoonful of Copperplate Gothic Bold!
I think the greatest part of this entrance is the fact that they suspended Copperplate Gothic Bold in between all of the buildings so that the inhabitants could take in the amazingness that Copperplate has to offer. Exquisitely placed serifs, strong and supreme lines, elegant and artistic kerning. Kudos to the films producer and to Copperplate Gothic Bold officianado Jodie Foster for making sure that this movie would kick ass from the opening credits through the entire movie.
We would personally like to thank our friend from down south Veronicá Calderón http://www.verocalder.cl/ for letting us know about this exquisite find in a major motion picture. The CGB empire grows!
Look at My Face, I Have Skillz That Employers Want
Thursday, April 8th, 2010 | Courtesy Redesigns | No Comments
We found this young man online who claimed that he was gothic and bold, we wanted to finish what he started and gave him the Copperplate.
This is such a classic picture, the fact he found aviator knockoff glasses that are semi-transparent with a mirror finish is to be applauded.
I don’t like to think we assigned text as to what we meant with this photo when it was taken, but we feel that we channeled his energy to create a special Copperplate redesign that suits him.
Prior to us finding and rebranding him, he was just another young man lost in life and on the internet. Sending pictures of himself to unsuspecting strangers, showing off his skillz, and talking about life on the streets (he lives with his mom) to build internet cred. Well we just gave you what you needed super cred through the power of Copperplate Gothic Bold.
CGB is a just and fair font, laying the law down when necessary but mostly because it’s a font with the human spirit in mind.
Judging by this photo coming from an old photo storage website, we believe that this young man may be a manager at a local regional bank with branch manager all written all over him if he just applies himself. So thank you young man for sharing yourself and for allowing us to channel Copperplate to give your still self online a voice. Copperplate rocks!
Jagermeister Spices it up With Copperplate!
Wednesday, April 7th, 2010 | Alcohol | No Comments
Let’s get bold people, even the folks at Jagermeister are getting into the wonderful world of Copperplate Gothic Bold! Look at that alcohol escaping the icy fist of a monster and the chains of everyday life. Redbull may give you wings, Jagermeister gives you a hangover, and Copperplate Gothic Bold gives you life.
Apparently Jagermeister is now a club too and has upcoming bands and events. Not quite sure what that’s all about, then again it never really matters what the ad is about when Copperplate is involved, we just assume greatness.
So thank you Jager, we will release the beast and to the folks who live in the state of New Jersey, drink your Jagerbombs and get excited for some new episodes of Jersey Shore.
Maybe Copperplate Isn’t the Greatest Font, Comic Sans Is!
Thursday, April 1st, 2010 | Education | No Comments
We’ve had a change of heart, Copperplate Gothic Bold isn’t the greatest font of all time. Heck, it’s not really good for anything. Lots of people use it, there is nothing unique about it, and it’s a poor attempt for non-designers to become designers by using something that looks design-y. Honestely, we wish that Frederic Goudy would have dropped the tray of letters he created into the ocean never to be found again. If we could create one of those magic memory sticks like in that Will Smith movie where we could erase Copperplate from the psyche of the world, we would.
We’ve turned out sights onto a font that has long been up and coming, one that is revolutionizing the way humans communicate. Yes, we are talking about the NEW greatest font of all time…Comic Sans!!!
Comic sans is the perfect way to add a bit of informality into a formal world. A bit of fun and lightheartedness into a world that is cold, dark and damp. Children smile brighter, diseases stop diseasing, those jokes you receive in your email inbox from the distant relative actually seem a bit funnier all from the way that the text is displayed on screen!
So thank you Comic Sans and no-thank you Copperplate.
What were we thinking supporting a font like Copperplate that clearly needs to go the way of the dodo bird. You are a blight that needs to be dealt with. Comic sans is the perfect font to handle that task!
Note: Even though in jest, every word typed above made my joints hurt, I now know what it’s like to have arthritis. Today is April Fool’s day, what better fool than comic sans;)
